While monitoring carbon dioxide levels has offered to possibility of improving HVAC operations in the area of ventilation, even automatically balancing healthfulness with energy savings, the initial attempts to accomplish this, using individual carbon dioxide sensors have typically failed due to the inability of these sensors to provide accurate and reliable data over time. While more accurate sensing approaches are available, namely shared-sensor monitoring, it is still early on in their evolution and future iterations will need to see their price point reduced before this aspect of building automation will, be more widely adopted. I am however, beginning to see this happening.
