Honeywell Momentum 2018 Day 2 featured Cybersecurity Expert — Kevin Smith, Tridium’s CTO & Chief Architect. Breakouts continued throughout the day, with sessions including: IP Controller Programming, Niagara 4 Security Updates, Sales Acceleration, and Analytics on the Edge. The evening ended with a Gala Celebration and the 2018 Honeywell Momentum Awards Dinner, which recognized Honeywell’s top Distributor and Contractor Performers. Many attendees commented — that with all things considered: location, business updates, product releases, guest speakers, and breakout sessions — this was the best Momentum to date. Congratulations to Mark Schlauderaff and the Honeywell team for a Momentum well done!
Some 400 of Honeywell’s top distributors, integrators, and contractors joined together inside the Crystal Ballroom of the Renaissance Orlando at SeaWorld®. Expectations were high. Keynote speaker Terry Jones, Mike Keller, Honeywell’s North America Buildings Sales Director, and Michael Garceau, Honeywell’s new General Manager, quickly met and exceeded all expectations.
Terry Jones, a renown motivation rouser, set the bar high, delivering 90 minutes of pure insight and inspiration. As a founder of both Travelocity.com and Kayak.com, Jones shared some of the secret sauce know-how that built these two start-ups into billion dollar companies. Playing on a quote from L.P. Hartley, “The future is a foreign country; they do things differently there,” Jones conveyed a pressing, almost urgent message: Move! Start with small changes and risks while developing your own version of innovation — or, let the forces of disruption dictate your future.
Mike Keller and Michael Garceau then shared center stage and delivered nothing short of Honeywell Building Technologies’ State of the Union Address, taking past problems and operational issues head-on, they then unveiled a host of transformative innovation and technology that nailed the event’s themes of Momentum, Connections, and It’s a New Day at Honeywell. Day 1 continued with a myriad of Breakout Sessions that featured the New CIPER Model Controllers, Technical Tracks and related Business and Training Tracks, culminating with a good round of networking at the Vendor Tradeshow, where attendees mingled among the 14 Momentum Sponsors’ booths — well-nourished, and cocktails in hand.

As you’ve heard from previous communications, Homes and ADI Global Distribution will be spinning off from Honeywell to become an independent company. We expect the spin to be completed by the end of 2018.
Many of you have been wondering how we’ll continue to deliver on the heritage and reliability of a great brand like Honeywell and have asked what will the brand become after the spin. In this letter, I’m excited to share with you the new corporate name of the Homes business, how we will go to market using the Honeywell name and a little background on the development of the name.
In a global town hall with our employees today, I shared that our new company will be named Resideo. You can learn more at resideo.com, which includes a video about the name but first let me give you some of the concepts behind the name.
Resideo is drawn from the combination of the words “residence” and “presidio.”
Residence: a person’s home; the place where someone lives
Presidio: A fortress
Together, these bring about thoughts of safety, comfort, security, strength, reliability and trust – in a combined word that expresses our identity as a technology company. These are timeless messages that are core to the Resideo business, as they express our focus on the home and our commitment to keeping the users of our products safe and secure.
I’m also excited to announce that while Resideo will be our corporate name, known by our employees and shareholders, for you, our key customers, we have also put together a long-term licensing agreement with Honeywell for use of the Honeywell brand. So, the products that our customers have known and loved for more than 100 years, and around which many of you have built your businesses, will be around for a long time to come.
I look forward to working together and I am excited about our endless possibilities for shared success.
Michael G. Nefkens
President and CEO, Resideo
