The 2018 Niagara Summit was the perfect venue for Roger Rebennack and Jackson Control to launch their Building Automated Security Solutions (BASS), a highly advanced and comprehensive Niagara security integration solution that delivers the full benefits of Threat Level Management and Shooter Detection System (sensing and alarming). Roger Rebennack, a renown security expert, and Jackson Control have taken security integration to new levels of performance. Watch and listen as Roger discusses the need to improve security behavior training through visual, audible, and general training techniques, similar to those used in fire alarm drills. This is vital security information and recommendations for Facility Managers, Systems Integrators, and security stakeholders at every level.
Every year since 1963, the President has issued a proclamation announcing National Small Business Week, which recognizes the critical contributions of America’s entrepreneurs and small business owners.
Stromquist was established in 1951 as a wholesale HVAC controls distributor. The business has grown significantly since then, but it has remained a family-owned company, proud to be a Small Business.
As we begin to post our videos from the 2018 Niagara Summit, it made sense to start with a new product announcement. Terry Swope and the team at Lynxspring introduced the Lynspring JENEsys® Edge™ 510 at the NS18. This product is so new that we could not get our hands on any data sheets, but we will post these as soon as they are available. So for now, listen to what Terry has to say about this new addition to the Lynxspring product portfolio.
Dear valued partner,
Tridium Professional Services has released a Niagara 4 e-signature application that helps users mitigate risk of failed regulatory audits. The new e-signature application allows Niagara 4 users to create and manage controlled audit logs to ensure data is accurate, time and date stamped, and unalterable.
The Niagara 4 e-signature application offers procedural and technical controls necessary for a compliant Method Of Procedure (MOP) and Standard Operating Procedure (SOP). It is particularly helpful to regulated businesses that are required to meet the FDA’s 21 CFR Part 11.
When manual changes and overrides are required, this new application can ensure the changes and overrides are made by authorized personnel, approved by managers and documented in audit files to maintain an accurate record.
E-signature licensing options for users of Niagara 4.2 or higher versions are available to those who have completed required training.
Be sure to:
Reserve your seat today in one of the required instructor-led virtual training courses (part number TRN-CRS-N4-ESIGN) offered by Tridium University. The 2.5-hour “Niagara 4 E-Signature Certification (Virtual)” course will be offered monthly.
Click to view the upcoming schedule.
Download the release notes, technical documentation and more that will be made available to students.
We will be sending an announcement to the global Niagara Community on May 8 to promote the Niagara 4 e-signature application, and related training courses and TridiumTalk webinars.
If you have any questions, please contact your Tridium account manager or Niagara partner. We look forward to you benefiting from the new Niagara 4 e-signature application!

Honeywell announced that it will appoint former long-time company executive Roger Fradin as the Chairman of the Board for the Homes and Global Distribution business spinoff announced last year. Fradin will start immediately to help Homes transition into a separate, stand-alone business.
“In Roger Fradin, we are appointing a terrific leader to act as Chairman of our Homes and Global Distribution business once it separates from Honeywell,” said Honeywell president and CEO Darius Adamczyk. “Over many decades in the industry, Roger has forged an unparalleled track record of performance through his ability to connect with customers, anticipate their needs and drive the rapid introduction of highly desirable products. Roger’s experience, passion, technical knowledge, unwavering focus on serving customers, and ability to attract and motivate a highly talented workforce will ensure the Homes spinoff thrives as an independent company.”
“I am excited to partner with Honeywell once again, and even more excited to help build a fantastic public company that will encompass this well-established and successful product portfolio,” Fradin said. “Honeywell’s Homes and Global Distribution business is uniquely positioned to leverage its wide portfolio of Connected products and highly advanced software capabilities to generate tremendous innovation within the markets it serves. I have no doubt the new company will be at the forefront as a leading choice for consumers, a great place to work for employees, and an excellent investment for future shareowners.”
In October 2017, Honeywell announced its intent to spin off the Homes product portfolio and ADI global distribution business, as well as the Transportation Systems business, into two stand-alone, publicly-traded companies. The spins are expected to be completed by the end of 2018. The new Homes and Global Distribution business will be in the home heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) controls and security markets, and a global distributor of security, fire, and other low voltage products. Based on Honeywell’s current view of the contours of the Homes and Global Distribution business and subject to finalization of the carve-out audit, the 2017 sales of the projected spin business were approximately $4.5 billion. The spin business is expected to have a high-yield credit rating and approximately 13,000 employees.
After a 17-year career with Honeywell, Fradin retired in February 2017 as vice chairman responsible for advancing the company’s merger and acquisition strategy. Before that, Fradin served as president and CEO of Honeywell’s former Automation and Controls Solutions (ACS) business group, a global leader in the development and manufacture of environmental controls, life safety products, and building and process solutions used in homes, buildings, industrial facilities, and public and private utilities around the world. Under Fradin’s leadership, ACS grew over a 10-year period by roughly 110 percent from an $8 billion, mainly U.S. domestic business, to a $17 billion global business. In addition, Fradin oversaw the completion and successful integration of 57 acquisitions worth approximately $7.2 billion. Fradin was the original founder of the Global Distribution business and ran the Security and Distribution business from 1976 until its acquisition by Honeywell in 2000.
This is the first Board appointment for the intended spinoff. A search is underway for a CEO, which will be a separate position, and that appointment will be announced at a later date.

Shakopee, Minn. – January 22, 2018 – Cyber Power Systems (USA), Inc., a leader in power protection and management products, today introduced an uninterruptible power supply (UPS) system designed to protect building and industrial controls and devices from power failure, interruptions, over-voltages and surges. The CyberPower BAS34U24V protects controller and server platforms, networking devices, data loggers, remote facility monitors, and other equipment from power disruptions to avoid loss of vital data and service failures. The UPS system is the first in a series of automation power-protection products to safeguard equipment within building automation systems (BAS), energy management systems (EMS) and other production-related systems which run smart buildings and factories.
CyberPower is launching the product at the 2018 ASHRAE Winter Conference and AHR Expo for the HVAC and controls industries, January 22-24, at McCormick Place in Chicago. During the AHR Expo, CyberPower will feature product briefings at booth #4058 in the Building Automation and Control Showcase at McCormick Place. The product is compliant to the Construction Specification Institute (CSI) Division 25 standard for integrated building automation regarding facility controller backup.
The CyberPower BAS34U24V serves the growing shift from siloed building systems to an interconnected system of Internet of Things (IoT) devices and sensors that collect and share data within and across portfolios. According to research by IHS Markit, there are more than 4.3 million IoT devices in use in the commercial and industrial electronics sector which includes smart buildings and factories, contributing to more than 27 billion connected IoT devices worldwide in 2017.
A UPS system engineered for control panels and edge networks
Designed for IoT technologies, the BAS34U24V is a UPS system featuring line-interactive topology to regulate voltage without having to switch to the battery. “Today’s smart buildings and industrial systems rely on computing and analytics placed close to the network edge. The CyberPower BAS34U24V protects connected edge devices on the plant or building floor, such as controllers and sensors, from damaging power events like surges, spikes and black-outs. The unit provides a continuous flow of clean power to ensure efficient building and equipment operation that, in turn, will flow clean data and analytics to maintain accurate building management,” said Tim Derochie, director of product management at CyberPower.
The UPS system provides DC power supply, surge protection and an internal, space-saving backup battery for long-lasting protection. Features of the CyberPower BAS34U24V include:
