NATIONAL HVAC TECH DAY: With the days heating up, June 22nd is a perfect day for National HVAC Tech Day!
Why should we show appreciation for our HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning) Technicians?
Though a variety of home heating and cooling techniques have existed since ancient times, central heating and air as we know it was born in the early 1900s. New inventions like the residential air conditioner and advances in older technologies, such as the thermostat and blower-equipped furnaces, gave Americans greater control over their indoor comfort than ever before.
This newfound power was more than a luxury; it shaped the growth of the country. Sun Belt cities with triple-digit summer temperatures became much more attractive places to live and vacation, once AC was more widely adopted on the 1960s.
Today, many of us take the indoor comfort for granted. But it’s the technicians who keep our HVAC systems running, day and night. If that’s not reason enough to show them a little love, here are a few more:
Extreme conditions are just another day at the office for an HVAC hero.
A few hours without AC or heat may be uncomfortable for us, but imagine working in those conditions every day of the week! HVAC technicians tirelessly brave the sweltering heat and numbing cold to restore our comfort, often at the hottest and coldest times of the year.
They go everywhere you’d hate to be!
Crawl spaces, attics and all points in between—that’s where you’ll find an HVAC pro. Depending on the age and condition of the building, they may run into anything from dust, debris and cobwebs to pests, mildew and claustrophobically close quarters.
HVAC technicians can save you some green…
Want your next HVAC system to maximize your energy savings? An HVAC expert can help you choose the right equipment for your home’s needs and your family’s heating and cooling habits. He or she can even recommend different thermostat options that range from set-it-and-forget-it simplicity to real-time smartphone controls with power usage tracking.
The savings don’t stop there! Regular maintenance, provided by your trusted HVAC technician, helps keep your system running at peak efficiency. That prevents energy waste and minimizes wear and tear that can shorten the life of your HVAC investment.
…and they help you live greener!
Don’t forget that saving energy means saving the earth’s valuable resources. When an HVAC professional helps you select and maintain efficient heating and cooling systems, he’s also helping you reduce your carbon footprint.
HOW TO OBSERVE
Celebrate the day by showing appreciation to your HVAC technician. Use #NationalHVACTechDay when using social media.
In 2016, National HVAC Tech Day was created by ARS/Rescue Rooter, a national provider of home services, to show appreciation for all HVAC technicians in the industry. The Registrar at National Day Calendar approved the day. See ARS.com for more details about the company.
The awards call attention to the products, systems and technologies that have set elevated standards for the industry’s responsible and effective use of its resources. Here’s some additional info:
· Submissions are due by July 31, 2018
· Entries should demonstrate innovative design, creativity, application, value and market impact

· Winners in each of the 10 product categories will receive special recognition prior to the Show, and will be given their awards during a ceremony on Tuesday, January 15 at the Expo venue in Atlanta
The AHR Expo will return to Atlanta for the first time since 2001 for its 2019 Show at the Georgia World Congress Center. HVACR accounts for billions of dollars in revenue and is a key economic driver for the state of Georgia, with U.S. Department of Labor projections indicating it will see nearly 20 percent growth in the coming years. With this booming HVACR market, the region is a top location to host the next AHR Expo.
We are thrilled to be back in this great city for the first time in 17 years. Atlanta, particularly the Georgia World Congress Center, is a hub for some of the country’s largest trade shows — a list that, for 2019, includes AHR. We are excited to be back in this region and to invite professionals from all over the world to experience its energy and pace.
The AHR Expo brings more than 60,000 attendees an exclusive opportunity to be at the forefront of experiencing and adopting the latest industry applications and products, as well as the chance to learn about emerging technologies before they are mainstream. Over 2,100 companies exhibit from 35 represented countries, making the three-day Show an opportunity to network with enough potential business partners to build out an entire year’s business prospects.
We receive consistent feedback at each Show that AHR is the place for best-in-class education of industry trends and practices, as well as a source for professionals to network with other people in the business of all titles and trades. Every year we see returning exhibitors and attendees who have been with us for years, as well as companies launching into business. It’s an exciting place to convene with the best in practice and it really gives an accurate snapshot of what’s going on in the industry.
“The AHR Expo is the heartbeat of the industry. Everybody that’s anybody is here, either exhibiting or attending,” said Kevin Bergin, director of Aspen Pumps Inc. at the 2018 Show. “We come to the Show to check the pulse of the industry, and to get an opportunity to build relationships with new and existing customers in the U.S. This Show lets us see how people are thinking about the year ahead. Based on the [2018 Show], we’re seeing a lot of confidence, and in our product category, the industry is still growing and that’s a big opportunity for us in the U.S.”
Atlanta is home to many popular tourism attractions to be seen outside of the Show, including the World of Coca-Cola, Centennial Olympic Park and the world-famous Georgia Aquarium. The 2019 AHR Expo’s return to Atlanta presents an exciting opportunity for professionals from all over the world to visit the Southeast region and to experience it first-hand.
