We focus so much on BACnet these days that we sometimes forget about Lon. We still come across lots of government jobs that use Lon as their preferred network. One of the best kept secrets when it comes to Lon controls, is a company called Loytec. As you can see in this video, they make quality controllers and accessories. We have had very good success at Stromquist & Company with Loytec, and can speak very highly of the brand.
BACnet and Lon have been competing for years to win the hearts and networks of Smart Buildings and smart buildings systems integrators. Although BACnet seems to be in vogue in today’s smart buildings marketplace, many swear by the Lon protocol. We caught up with a company that makes outstanding smart building controls and specializes in optimizing the Lon protocol. Loytec, might be one of the best kept secrets in the United States, but globally they are a dominate force in building automation controls. Loytec’s Daryl Clasen walks us through the Loytech product portfolio that includes beautiful touch screen displays and wall sensors, and shows us how their mobile app works. If you happen to be in Georgia or Florida, the team at Stromquist & Company can provide more information on the Loytec product line.
We had a chance to catch up with Daryl Clasen, from Loytec, at the 2015 AHR Show. In addition to a complete line of Smart Building and Building Automation Controls, Daryl introduces us to the Loytec VAV controller with Smart sensor and some of the most gorgeous, flexible touch pad panels you will ever see. Check it out and let me know what you think in comments. Speaking of comments, here is one overheard at the AHR Show, “Loytec is the Ferrari of a VAV controller. Almost 25 I/O, ethernet, web server, wifi, usb, kitchen sink…
… it’s closer to the Dreamliner, with all seats first class! (but more like the cost of the average economy cabin ticket).” Sounds like a deal to me.
