Live from AHR Expo in Dallas

I am at the AHR Expo in Dallas, Texas, trying to not be overwhelmed by the size of this tremendous industry show. If you have ever been to one, you know what I mean. If you have not had the privilege of attending one, it is hard to convey how big it is. It is the trade show of trade shows for the HVAC world. Imagine hundreds and hundreds of wall to wall booths filled with all the products you could ever want or need in this field.

There are more handheld tools than I ever thought existed, regulators, boilers, controls, design fabrication, software solutions, A/C units, space heaters, automobiles, manifolds, and on and on. Many exhibitors have massive and impressive demo units. I have seen a mini (but still quite large) cooling tower, a chiller system, full sized boilers, ductwork systems, plasma cutting tables, and more.

There are many exhibitors that I do not know, but I have seen several I recognize — Belimo, Honeywell, Dwyer, Testo, and Ecobee just to name a few. All are representing their companies well, presenting their best and latest products. Emerson has a booth that could fill a whole city block, and that is no joke.

KMC is showing its newest line of thermostats that are network compatible. Wattstopper is displaying a new line of digital lighting control, and Honeywell has the Genetron 245FA waste heat recovery system. One thing is for certain: just about everyone is focused on energy savings in one way or another, and that is a very good thing!

I’m headed back to cover some more ground now. So long from Dallas!
