Last week my wife, Anna, visited Saint Elizabeth, Jamaica with Emory University. Four physical therapists and eight physical therapy students joined the Friends of the Redeemer, a non-profit clinic, which specializes in providing a free stroke camp to community stroke survivors.
Every patient in the stroke camp improved substantially at the end of the week in areas of balance, gait speed, quality of gait, and/or arm/hand function.
Anna was very moved by the strength, faith, diligence, and resilience of the Jamaican people when faced with the challenges following stroke. She was moved by their joy and unity.
