‘Fit and forget’ sensors to compensate variable and changing viscosities. The sensors have a rugged design with no moving parts, require no calibration, and provide accurate, repeatable measurements improving the control and efficiency of HVAC systems
Belimo releases new inline flow sensors sizes 2½ to 6” that offer automatic glycol measurement and compensation for optimal system performance. Trusted flow measurement is essential in maximizing HVAC system efficiency and ensuring occupant comfort. Belimo flow sensors utilize ultrasonic technology with glycol compensation to provide accurate and repeatable flow measurements of water and water/glycol mixtures without drift in any HVAC application.
The Belimo flow sensors use two offset transducers (refer to Figure 1) to determine the flow velocity by measuring the speed of sound in the heat transfer fluid. The downstream transit time is measured by passing an ultrasonic pulse from the lower transducer to the upper transducer; the process is then reversed to obtain the upstream time. Transit times differ based on the flow through the sensor tube; the downstream pulse is accelerated, the upstream pulse is impeded and slowed. The ultrasound pulses with the fluid temperature can be used to calculate the kinematic velocity (𝑣𝑚𝑒𝑎𝑠) and determine the measured volumetric flow.
The flow sensors have a patented automatic glycol compensation algorithm that selects the correct fluid properties for the flow and energy calculation eliminating manual input of glycol percentage for sensor setup. The algorithm can be applied to a range of heat transfer fluids, ensuring accurate and repeatable measurements. The automatic glycol concentration minimizes drift and provides trusted flow measurement by continuously compensating glycol concentration in a hydronic system.
The Belimo inline flow sensors are an advancement in thermal energy with ultrasonic transit-time technology that automatically measures and compensates glycol concentration. ‘Fit and forget’ sensors to compensate variable and changing viscosities. The sensors have a rugged design with no moving parts, require no calibration, and provide accurate, repeatable measurements improving the control and efficiency of HVAC systems. All flow sensors are wet calibrated to simulate field operation and available with NIST traceable calibration certification. The 2½” to 6” flow sensors now complete the FM series flow sensor offering.

Belimo industrial ball valves feature 2-way and 3-way configurations operated by rotary actuators. The actuators are controlled by a standard voltage for on/off, modulating, or floating point control which moves the valve to the position dictated by the control system.
Belimo Introduces a New Sensor that you need to know about
We all know that when Belimo gets involved in a technology they are only interested in creating and being the best in that domain. Think about how they changed the game with direct coupled actuators and the Belimo energy valve. If you have been following ControlTrends, you know that Belimo entered the smart sensor game a couple of years ago. Belimo’s intention is clear, they want to change the HCAC and Smart Building sensor game. So it is no surprise that they are taking CO2 sensors to a new standard..
What is dual channel technology and why should you care..
Accuracy and Repeatability! This saves time and money!
The dual channel technology measures two-wave lengths split from a single light source. The sensor automatically takes a reading using the reference channel. Any change in the measurement indicates a change in the optics of the sensor.
The sensors automatically adjusts the CO2 measurement when a change is detected to prevent drift.
Manual calibration is not needed.
High accuracy is maintained even in busy applications such as retail stores or hospitals.
Add a temperature sensor and you have the perfect product for..
applications requiring 24/7 hours of operation such as hospitals, retail stores, manufacturing, and indoor farming.
Also think about…
Greenhouses, indoor farming, and hydroponic growers have expressed their need to monitor CO2and temperature levels accurately. CO2 levels are essential for maximizing plant growth. Our high accuracy CO2/temperature sensors provide the opportunity for grow farmers to really boost their profit while increasing plant yields and reducing cropping time
Performance expectations for a building automation system are rising, and those opportunities generally focus on improving efficiency and reliability by leveraging more data. New Belimo products allow easy integration using standard BAS protocols to increase controllability and visibility of data inside of end devices. Join us for this webinar to learn more and take advantage of these new products that are available now.
You don't need any tools to change this Belimo Actuator, but make sure you don't...
Well, watch the video, it’s a great video and Belimo makes great actuators, in fact, in this how-to-video, you will learn the proper way to remove and install the QCV and PIQCV zone valve actuators. The QCV and PIQCV easily connect and disconnects to the allowing operators and technicians to install valves quickly, efficiently, and without the use of tools. This helps simplify commissioning and reduces labor costs. The clip position to set the CV or GPM is also explained. To learn more about Belimo ZoneTight Zone Valves, visit www.belimo.us, and to purchase this actuators you can go to your local distributor, or a master distributor like stromquist.com or dmscontrolsgroup.com
OK, make sure you don’y try to unscrew the actuator from the valve body, it pops off!
Balancing Hydronic Systems can definitely be a challenge – sometimes we know what the problem is but it can be hard to see it. The Belimo Hydronic Simulator™ will allow you to get a better understanding of the impact static balancing valves have on the entire system when a single control valve changes position. Join us for this webinar to learn more and take advantage of this new tool that is now available online.
