JLL adds workplace technology expert to expand global Smart Building Program

Mike Carter brings specialized expertise in workplace technology and IoT solutions

CHICAGO, Oct. 12, 2017 – JLL continues to strengthen its rapidly growing Smart Building Program with the appointment of Michael Carter as Senior Solutions Consultant. Based in Philadelphia, Carter joins JLL with more than 30 years of experience in building and workplace technologies. Throughout his career, he has led global deployments of Internet of Things (IoT) and smart building technologies in corporate, government, education, multifamily, retail and multi-use facilities.

Mike CarterIn his new role at JLL, Carter will help clients develop and deploy building and workplace technologies into their facilities to enhance employee engagement, satisfaction, and well-being. Carter’s appointment bolsters the JLL Smart Building Program, which is a rapidly expanding and robust global team of engineers and subject matter experts led by Darlene Pope, Senior Vice President, and Global Practice Lead.

Carter joins JLL from The Clarient Group, a technology consulting and design firm, where he helped develop and deploy solutions for smart, integrated buildings for a wide range of clients. Previously, he was Director of Integrated Building Solutions for AMX, a division of Harman International, leading the firm’s development of IoT and integrated building systems for Fortune 500 corporations as well as government and education clients.

Carter holds a bachelor’s degree in computer science from The University of Maryland. He is a member of the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) and the Continental Automated Buildings Association’s (CABA) Integrated and Intelligent Buildings Council. He also is a member and former board director of AVIXA, formerly InfoComm International.
