Scott Cochrane welcomed the more than 600 attendees at the 2019 Controls-Con General Session with the caveat that we, as an industry, are now stewards of data. Systems distributors and systems integrators now have a significant influence on the data structure put into place on behalf of our customers. What we leave behind will be the watermark measure of our abilities and ultimately, the signature of our performance. It’s time for us to develop or acquire IT savvy, and add it to our portfolio.
Four notable experts than followed with varying industry insights: Ken Sinclair, Owner & Founder of Automated Buildings; Laurent Vernerey, President of the Acuity Brands Technology Group; Jim Morris, VP and GM of Global Business Management Systems at Johnson; Kevin Smith, Chief Technology Officer, Tridium Controls; and Jim Young, Founder of the Realcomm Conference Group.
The General Session ended with a panel discussion and brief Q & A with the audience. Day 1 concluded with a Reception and Exhibitor Showcase, followed by the Dinner and Awards Program and musical entertainment.
