It is a collection of multiple protocols, concepts, and component standards. With the objective of understanding the issues, challenges and benefits of implementing the IEC 61850 standard, we have developed a case study that presents a summary and analysis of deployments of the standard at the New York Power Authority (NYPA), Kansas City Power and Light (KCP&L), and Southern California Edison (SCE).
