Why Project SandStar Could Change The Smart Building Controls World Forever

If ControlTrends’ Young Gun, Alper Üzmezler, managing partner at BASSG, is correct with his theory that the way DDC software is done today is redundant — costly and inefficient, and if he can deliver the promises of Project Sandstar, then the smart building controls world as we know it — is getting ready to change forever.

What Sandstar allows — is for independent Direct Digital Controls to merge Sedona with Haystack — into a seamless whole, which according to Alper, means you would eliminate the need for each individual manufacturer’s software. If this works, the implications as a minimum, would represent a similar effect to Elon Musk’s electric car, and might be as revolutionary as the computer replacing the typewriter. Perhaps, I’m overreacting. Heck, I hope I’m overreacting. You be the judge — watch these videos and let us know what you think in comments.

  1. You are not overreacting; you guys are totally right. We need unitary controls with open DDC that serve Haystack metadata. The time for these types of controllers are long past due.

The necessary hardware components, at the right price point, has been available for a long time now.

  2. Terrific work! That is the type of information that shold be shared across the internet.
Disgrace on the seek engines for noww not positioning this publish upper!
Come onn over and consult with my web site .
    Thank you =)

  3. This is a great advance, solving many problems even with Sedona used prime. Sedona used on individual controllers still requires keys (small adjustments) for each type of controller that must be run with it to allow controller programming. Elimination of this requirement is a significant advance assuming folks adopt the use of Sedona and Haystack to program their hardware.
